JEE Main Exam Pattern

JEE Main consists of two papers: Paper 1 is for B.Tech or B.E. and Paper 2 is for B.Arch or B.Planning. Paper 1 comprises objective type questions based on Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics.

Paper 1 is for 300 marks while paper 2 is for 400 marks. The duration of both the papers is 3 hours each.

B.E. / B.Tech

It is conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode only. Each Subject has two sections. Section A is of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and Section B contains Questions whose answers are to be filled in as a numerical value. In Section B, you have to attempt any five questions out of 10.

Marking Scheme for MCQs: Correct answer will give you four marks (+4) while incorrect answer will give you minus one mark (-1).

Marking Scheme for questions for which answer is a Numerical value: Correct answer will give you four marks (+4). There is no negative marking in these questions.

B.Arch

Mathematics (Part I) and Aptitude Test (Part II) in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode only and Drawing Test (Part III) in Pen & Paper Based (offline) mode to be attempted on drawing sheet of A4 size.

B.Planning

Multiple Choice Questions

To answer a question, you need to choose one option corresponding to the correct answer or the best answer. However, if after the process of challenges of the key, more than one option is found to be correct then the multiple correct options will be given four marks (+4). Any incorrect option marked will be given the minus one mark (-1).

Unanswered or Marked for review will be given no marks. In case, a question is dropped or ignored, all candidates will be given four marks (+4) irrespective of the fact whether the question has been attempted or not attempted by a candidate.
